Cover Design, Logo Design

This cover was created as part of a personal illustration project, blending classic noir aesthetics with retro bowling alley vibes. The goal of the project was to capture the tension and intrigue of a noir crime story set against the backdrop of a vintage bowling alley.

Objective: Design a visually striking cover that incorporates elements of film noir, retro typography, and symbolic imagery from bowling culture. The cover evokes both mystery and nostalgia, with the title "Deadly Spare" reinforcing the connection between the sport and the story's deadly twists.

Color Studies

To begin the creative process, I collaged and color-adjusted a few images to explore different moods and tones for the final design. These studies helped establish the noir-inspired atmosphere, ensuring the colors would evoke both the tension and retro feel I wanted for the cover.

Sketches & Layout Exploration

In this phase, I experimented with various layouts and compositions to find the right balance between the key visual elements. Here, you can see early sketches, including a rejected cover concept. This stage allowed me to refine the overall design and storytelling before arriving at the final version.
