Cover Design
Mock-up done for fun
Objective: Create an outdoor survival book for kids.
Logo Design
For the logo, I stuck mainly to an Asma font as I wanted something that reflected the rough and rugged lifestyle one would find when staying outdoors. Going with the outdoors theme, I decided to use a mixture of greens, yellows, and browns when designing the logo. I also created a leaf pattern to place inside part of the text. Incorporating a compass was also a sticking point for me.

Background Design
For the background I obtained a public domain photo of Yellowstone National Park. I used a mixture to Photoshop gallery filters to simplify the image. Next, I proceeded to block out the colors in the photo while continuing to simplify the details.
Misc. Design Elements
As part of the design, and relating to the outdoor theme, I made sure to incorporate a map and a compass.
Final Cover Design
After assembling all the cover elements together, I went about designing the back cover and the spine thus completing the wrap around for the cover.
