DIGIMON HIDE AND SEEK

Cover Design

Mock-up done for fun

Objective: Create a kids' activity book cover using an official style guide and digital assets.

Digital Assets

Most search and find books incorporate a magnifying glass on the cover. With that in mind I altered one of the assets that came with the style guide, the Digivice, re-designing it into a magnifying glass. The Digivice asset that came with the guide was a flat black silhouette. The meant I had to add and blue casing, screen, and other details to the image. After the Digivice was finished, I combined it with a magnifying glass image I drew, creating what I call the Digi-Magnifier.

I also edited the black gears logo by separating the gear from the text part of the logo via Illustrator.

Editing and Arrangement of Assets

When arranging everything on the cover some assets had to be edited. The background image, for example, did not match the desired dimensions for the final book. Hence, I had to add onto the background, matching the art style used as I expanded the original image. Some other assets had to be trimmed and cut in a way to allude to perspective.

Final Cover Design

After assembling all the cover elements together, I went about designing the back cover and the spine in a similar fashion, thus completing the wrap around for the cover. I also made sure that the assets, and overall design, could be rearranged to fit any size book.
